Winner – Wild Things Comp Autumn 2019.
We found a cicada in the bush which had been killed by a fungus.
The fungus is called the sugar icing fungus. The spores attack the cicada and fill their body which kills them. The white fungus is soft and squishy.
We found the dead cicada on the ground in P.G. Nops Reserve while we were pulling out tradescantia, a bad plant. We are part of a group helping to care for a reserve in Inglewood.
