This is a Forest Ringlet Butterfly. It is made out of plastic bags and milk bottles that have been fused together. I have attached it to a knitted bag made from plastic bags. To fuse the plastic together I put the plastic layers between two baking trays and put them in the oven.
I chose the Forest Ringlet Butterfly because it is an endangered butterfly and not many people know about it. I used plastic bags because they don't get recycled, they just get thrown in the rubbish and sometimes they get blown out to sea. The Forest Ringlet Butterfly is also known as the Helm’s Butterfly and is found in clearings and around the edges of beech forests.
