I fed these eels when I was on holiday at my grandparents in Te Puna. There were about 10 of them in the creek at their friends house. One was really big and golden and didn't come up for food. The others were skinnier and brown and keen to eat the meat scraps that I was putting into the creek. It was really freaky how they slither up on to the bank to get the food – I had to watch out for my fingers! They are blind so they find the food by smelling it.
