Last weekend Dad and Kelly, my brother Lachie and me went tramping in the Lewis Pass. We walked to Cannibal Gorge Hut on the St James walkway. It took us 3 1/2 hours to get to the hut. We walked through beech forest and had to cross two swingbridges.
On the way we saw lots of robins and fantails. We also saw a tomtit. When we were walking back to the car Kelly and me were ahead of Dad and Lachie and we waited by the bridge for them to catch up. We pretended to be asleep.
While we were waiting a robin came and pecked bugs out of the mud on the bottom of my shoes. Then the robin got on my leg. I was going to take a photo but Dad and Lachie arrived and scared the robin away. I saw a tree with rocks on the side of it which I thought looked really cool (photo). Kelly told me that they were actually part of the tree.
