We know furry friends are an important part of the family and are even better camping companions. From Beagles to Border Collies, Labradors to Terriers, there’s nothing quite like bringing your family pets on your camping adventures with you.

Luckily in New Zealand, numerous camping spots around the country welcome responsible pet owners with their dogs. We’ve compiled a list of dog-friendly campsites here for you to check out before planning your next family camping adventure with all your furry friends in tow! Some sites in this list require DOC dog permits and some Top 10 sites allow dogs in selected units.

NOTE Always familiarise yourself with a campsites guideline for bringing your dogs on site. Each campsite’s rules may differ, so you should always phone ahead of time to discuss your situation before arrival. Your dog should be well socialised and cared for at all times to maintain peace and a safe environment for all within any campsite.
