Introducing the Tuatara Crest, an upgraded version of our original SSC Blackout rooftop tent in New Zealand. Weighing only 49.5kgs, it's our most compact design, making it an excellent fit for smaller vehicles or ute trays. The slatted base design reduces weight and minimizes condensation. Notable enhancements include a longer front door for better water runoff, side windows for improved ventilation, larger power cord entry, an improved cover design, and an upgraded telescopic ladder design. With a 70mm high-density foam mattress, you'll enjoy a comfortable night's sleep.

  • Easy-Grip Zip-Pulls Our Easy-Grip Zip-Pulls have a handy finger loop. The rubber and cord zip pulls make less noise as the pulls don’t rattle in the wind.

  • 200 denier fabric We use a high density/high thread count (Denier) PU coated polyester fabric for the fly, which we have developed over many years. This fabric has superior tensile strength and is 8 times more durable than nylon. It doesn't stretch or sag when wet like nylon does and is a heavier quality than comparable fabrics.
  • Aluminium poles Our Powerflex aluminium poles are the largest diameter pole possible, relative to the size of the tent. This ensures you get maximum strength at minimum weight. They are also coloured to match the coloured pole sleeves. These are teamed up with lightweight high-strength aluminium 'V' hiker pegs.

    Have spent a night in . Ladder is stable and as a old fella I’m confident on it for a pee in the middle of the night . It did have condensation on a very wet and misty cold night It can easily alleviate by opening side windows and because it has the porch cover , the front door can be partially open for ventilation. Tent looks sexy on car . Easy to bolt on and the form is small and compact . All the material is tight and doesn’t flap in breeze . My wife loves the tent and finds the mattress very comfortable . It’s cozy/smallish but I can stretch out at 6 foot 3 no problem . Although my head might touch end of tent may be problem if high humidity . II have this problem on all 2 person tents as a tall person . I think this is perfect two person three season and 1person winter tent . I intend to use above the snow line this winter so will write another review after ten days down south.

    Received my Tuatara Crest last month. Haven't unpacked it yet as I'm still sorting my Holden 2008 V6 Omega. Yes! Holden Omega. 3 weeks it will be on my roof. Looking forward to traveling from Kaitaia to Invercargill. Will right more in a cpl of week's.
